We meet Marko in Adapt, Survive and Flourish as one of three university students drawn into the expanding world of the Tuesday Night Survivors Club. His study of soil science gives him an immediate connection with Fred and regenerative agriculture. But it is only when he gets out onto Fred’s farm—walking the land, observing its regeneration, talking with Fred and physically working beside him—that the ideas become real. Gemba changes him.
While repairing a fire-damaged fence with Fred, Marko suddenly understands his own purpose. Kate’s work on purpose and Bruno’s insistence that “there is no do-nothing option” come together with what he is seeing on the ground. He decides to use soil science to support the regenerative agriculture movement.
Marko’s journey continues as Fred introduces him to regenerative agriculture field days, and he begins exploring how fungi contribute to regeneration. Through mycelium—the largely unseen networks connecting life beneath the soil—Marko begins to see a bigger pattern: regeneration is not something imposed on a living system; it emerges through relationships, exchange, diversity, and connection.
