Purpose explains why a person or organisation chooses to act and what makes that action worthwhile. For individuals, it connects work with values, identity and contribution; for organisations, it clarifies why they exist, whom they serve and what they will protect.
Alignment does not require everyone to think alike or adopt a corporate slogan. It exists when people can connect their own purpose with the organisationβs direction, contribute without compromising their integrity and understand how their work serves something meaningful.
Purpose becomes credible through decisions and action, particularly when priorities compete or honouring it carries a cost. Persistent conflict between declared purpose, personal experience and organisational behaviour produces compliance, cynicism or withdrawal.
